Growatt Battery Sydney

Modular Home Battery Storage That Grows With Your Household

The Growatt APX HV is a stackable, high-voltage home battery built for Sydney households that want reliable solar storage without paying for capacity they will not use. Instead of buying one fixed-size unit, you start with the number of 5 kWh modules that suits your energy usage today and add more as your needs change, whether that is a new EV, a growing family, or a move to all-electric appliances.

Each APX system uses cobalt-free Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cells with module-level energy optimisation, which means new modules can be added years later and work alongside the originals without dragging down performance. Paired with a Growatt hybrid inverter, the battery stores surplus daytime solar and releases it during the evening peak, when grid electricity is at its most expensive.

Solar National designs and installs Growatt solar battery systems for Sydney homes and businesses, covering single-phase and three-phase properties. Our CEC-accredited installers apply the federal battery rebate upfront and enrol your system in our Virtual Power Plant partner program, so you can claim the NSW incentive too.

What Our Clients Have To Say!

Why Choose Growatt APX HV

A flexible, outdoor-rated battery that lets Sydney households store more of their own solar, cut evening grid usage and expand storage on their own timeline.

Start Small, Scale Later

Begin with two modules (around 10 kWh) and expand one 5 kWh module at a time up to 30 kWh in a single-phase system. You only pay for the storage your home actually needs right now.

Mix Old and New Modules

Built-in module-level energy optimisers allow batteries of different ages and charge levels to operate together in one stack. Many modular batteries require identical modules, so this gives you genuine long-term flexibility.

Rated for Outdoor Installation

With IP66 protection and an operating range of -10°C to 50°C, the APX can be mounted on an exterior wall or side passage, which suits Sydney homes with limited garage or laundry space.

Four Layers of Safety Protection

The system combines a battery management system, module energy optimisers, fuse protection and aerosol fire suppression, all built around stable LFP chemistry.

One Brand, One App

Pairing the APX with a Growatt hybrid inverter keeps your inverter, battery and monitoring under one manufacturer. Track solar generation, battery charge and household consumption in real time through the Growatt ShinePhone app.

Pairs With Sofar Hybrid Inverter Ecosystem

Growatt focuses on delivering proven LFP storage without premium-brand overheads, making it a sensible choice for households that want to reduce evening grid usage while keeping the overall investment manageable.

Best For

Most Sydney homes

Large homes, three-phase properties, small business

Simpler single-phase systems

APX HV is Growatt’s high-voltage platform and the option we recommend for most Sydney households. High-voltage architecture reduces conversion losses and supports stronger power output for evening loads such as cooking, air conditioning and EV charging.

ALP LV is a low-voltage, stackable system suited to homes with modest power demands or specific inverter setups. It trades peak power for simplicity and can scale to large capacities.

Not sure which series suits you? We check your phase supply, switchboard and daily usage, then recommend APX or ALP based on what your home actually needs. You can also compare Growatt with the other brands in our solar battery range.

Is a Growatt Battery Right for Your Home?

A Growatt battery is a strong fit if you:

  • Are installing new solar with a Growatt hybrid inverter, or already own one
  • Want to start with a smaller battery and expand in stages
  • Need an outdoor-rated battery for a side passage or exterior wall
  • Want to join a Virtual Power Plant and claim the NSW incentive
  • Care most about value per kilowatt-hour stored

Consider another brand if you:

  • Want a single all-in-one unit with a built-in inverter
  • Need to pair the battery with a non-Growatt inverter you want to keep
  • Need very high backup output for whole-home loads on a single-phase supply

We would rather recommend the right battery than the one we happen to stock. If Growatt is not the best match, we will show you options such as Sungrow, Fox ESS, GoodWe ESA or Sigenergy.

Installation

How We Install Your Growatt Battery

Most Growatt battery installations in Sydney are completed in one day once approvals are in place.

Step 1: Energy Bill Review
Send us a recent electricity bill or call 1300 179 949. We look at your daily usage, evening peak and tariff to work out how many modules you actually need, not the biggest system we can sell.

Step 2: Site Assessment
We check whether your home is single or three-phase, the condition of your switchboard, your existing solar inverter (if any), and the best mounting location for the battery stack.

Step 3: System Design and Rebate Sizing
We design the system as DC-coupled with a new Growatt hybrid inverter or AC-coupled to your existing solar, and size it to make the most of the federal rebate tiers.

Step 4: Network Approval and Paperwork
We lodge the connection application with your network provider, such as Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy, and handle all STC rebate documentation.

Step 5: Installation Day
Our team mounts the battery base, stacks the modules, installs or connects the Growatt inverter, sets up backup circuits if required, and completes all safety testing.

Step 6: App Setup, VPP Enrolment and Handover
We connect your system to the ShinePhone app, set your charging preferences around your tariff, enrol you in our VPP partner program, and walk you through the dashboard so you can track savings from day one.

Government Rebates

Growatt Battery Rebates in NSW

Growatt’s 5 kWh modules make it easy to size your system around the federal rebate tiers, so more of your battery attracts the full discount.

Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program

Eligible batteries receive an upfront discount through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). For installations from 1 May 2026, the first 14 kWh of usable capacity attracts the full rate (currently around $252 per kWh), capacity between 14 and 28 kWh receives 60% of that rate, and capacity between 28 and 50 kWh receives 15%. The rate steps down every six months, so installing sooner locks in a higher discount. Read our full battery rebate guide.

NSW Virtual Power Plant Incentive (PDRS)

Growatt batteries installed by Solar National can be enrolled with our approved Virtual Power Plant partner, which makes you eligible for an additional NSW incentive under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. The incentive is calculated on up to 28 kWh of usable capacity and stacks on top of the federal rebate. We handle the enrolment for you at installation, so you receive both discounts without extra paperwork. Learn more about VPPs.

Yes. Growatt is a global inverter and energy storage manufacturer with an established presence in Australia. The APX HV uses cobalt-free LFP chemistry, carries IP66 protection and a 10-year warranty, and offers strong value per kWh, making it a solid choice for Sydney households that want reliable storage without premium-brand costs.

APX is Growatt’s high-voltage range with higher power output, available for single and three-phase homes. ALP is a low-voltage range suited to simpler single-phase systems. Both use 5 kWh LFP modules and carry a 10-year warranty

Yes. If you already have residential solar, the battery can be AC-coupled through a compatible Growatt inverter. If your current inverter is ageing, replacing it with a Growatt hybrid inverter is often the more efficient option. We assess both during your site visit.

Growatt batteries are designed to pair with Growatt hybrid inverters, and that is the combination we recommend for reliability and warranty support. If you have a different brand of inverter, we can usually AC-couple a Growatt system alongside it or suggest a battery that matches your existing equipment.

Yes, when installed with backup configured. How much you can run during an outage depends on the backup output of your Growatt inverter, not just the battery size. Large loads such as ducted air conditioning, electric hot water and multiple kitchen appliances at once can exceed that limit. We confirm the backup output for your exact inverter and choose which circuits to protect during design.

Under the federal program, a 10 kWh system currently attracts around $2,500 off, and a 15 kWh system around $3,700, based on usable capacity. Enrolling in our VPP partner program adds the NSW PDRS incentive on top. See our battery rebate guide for full details.

Yes. Solar National can connect your Growatt battery to our approved VPP partner, allowing you to claim the NSW PDRS incentive and earn from supporting the grid during peak demand events. You stay in control through the app, and the battery keeps enough charge to cover your home’s own needs.

Most Sydney households using 15 to 25 kWh per day suit a 10 to 15 kWh system. Homes with an EV, pool or ducted air conditioning often benefit from 20 kWh or more. We size your system from your actual bills.

Yes. This is one of the APX’s biggest strengths. Its module-level optimisers let you add new modules years later and run them alongside the originals, up to 30 kWh in a single-phase system and 60 kWh in a three-phase system.

With LFP chemistry and normal daily cycling, a Growatt battery can typically last 10 to 15 years. Lifespan depends on how deeply and how often the battery cycles, installation temperature, and whether it stays within Growatt’s operating conditions.

Growatt provides a 10-year product warranty on its Australian battery range. Like most batteries, cover can end early if an energy throughput limit is reached first, so we explain the full conditions before you sign. Warranty also depends on installation by a CEC-accredited installer, which Solar National provides. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law apply in addition to the manufacturer warranty. If you ever need help, our warranty claim team is here to assist.

Yes. The IP66 rating protects against dust and water, and the -10°C to 50°C operating range handles Sydney summers. We still recommend a shaded wall away from direct afternoon sun to support long-term performance.

Growatt batteries operate up to 50°C, but like all batteries, output can reduce at very high temperatures to protect the cells. On Sydney homes, we mount the battery on a shaded wall or inside a garage to keep performance steady through summer heatwaves.

Yes. The Growatt APX S2 pairs with Growatt MOD XH and MID XH three-phase hybrid inverters and scales up to 60 kWh. Solar National installs three-phase Growatt systems for larger Sydney homes and commercial properties.

Installation is usually completed in a single day. Network approval and paperwork beforehand typically take one to two weeks, and we manage all of it for you.
